Catalunya Cricket League Rules

SECTION I

                                                    

Constitution and Management

 

  1. The League shall be called “The Catalan Cricket League” (hereafter referred to as ‘The League”).

The aims and objectives of the league shall be:

  • To offer competitive opportunities in the name of cricket,
  • To promote the League within the local community in the name of cricket
  • To ensure a duty of care to all members of the League
  • To provide all its services in a way that is fair to everyone
  • To ensure that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment
  1. The Officials of the League shall be The League Secretary, Umpires Secretary, disciplinary panel and scoring secretary.
  2. The Affairs of the Leagues shall be controlled by the Management Committee which shall meet at least three times in each year and shall consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and the representatives of the League Management Committee.

SECTION II

Membership of the League/ registration fee

  1. The League Championship shall be open to such number of Clubs registered under counsel of Cataluña sports of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and no Club may be excluded on the basis of race, sex, religion or
  2. Each club shall be responsible for the registration of its players. Registration sheets to be submitted to the League Secretary prior to the first match of the
  3. The league registration fee + tournaments registration fee+ insurance fee shall be paid in the Catalunya cricket federation bank account before decided deadline with player’s details. There will not be Umpire fees per match which need to be deposit in advance. (This is subject to be changed according to the availability of the funds and/grounds).
  4. A Minimum of 15 players shall be registered before last date, with a clear passport size photo, Full name, residence permit/ DNI number, date of Birth and full address with contact number and email address, all the data shall be sent to the league secretary in digital format by email.
  5. Any team/club not able to register their players and pay the League registration fee within due date; will not be able to play in the
  6. All transfer requests within the clubs/teams for the league must be made by completing a transfer request, form available from League

NOTE: In ANY dispute PROOF would rest with the Club as stated in the rule, may cancel the player’s transfer

  1. A player who has been suspended or fined by any other recognized cricket league shall not be allowed to play in any matches under the jurisdiction of the Catalan League until the end of such suspension or until such fine has been
  2. During yearly season, no player can play for more than one club for which he/she is registered even for unofficial
  3. CE Finals –
    • To represent in CE league finals 70% of Catalan League matches must be played.
    • 50% pool matches must be played to participate in QF, SF and Final of Catalan League.
  4. Playing Outside
    • Player cannot play Official tournaments in 2 different countries of
    • A Player cannot get registration in 2 different countries of Europe even outside of Catalunya
    • Player can play any Premier league which will be mention word Premier in any country of Europe.

SECTION III

 

Rules governing the conduct of play in games played under League Auspices

  1. All games shall be played of 25 /30 overs per innings, and the inning time shall be 4 minutes/over, there shall be 15 minutes break between the innings. There will be a water break of 5 minutes after 15 overs. In case junior league all games will consist of 20 overs per
  2. There will consist of two Divisions I and II, each division will have 2 groups. The top team from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, team coming 2nd and 3rd from each group will play with each other (please check the fixtures) to qualify for the semi- finals. And final match will be played between winners of both semi-finals for the Catalan championship.
  3. The White dress shall be used for all the league
  4. The Red ball will be used for all the league
  5. If any match is cancelled due to the un-availability of the ground, the said match will be held
  6. If any match is cancelled or interrupted due to weather problems both teams will be given 5 points each, in case of both teams have played minimum 12 overs, the result will be given applying DL method (N.R.R.).
  7. Any club failing to fulfil a fixture for any reason without informing league Incharge shall be fined with fee (200 00 euros), and this fee should be paid on same day to other team, and the full winning points will be given to the
  8. The winning team will be awarded 10 points per
  9. All the teams shall arrive at least 40 minutes before the match, the toss will be done 30 minutes before every match, any team not presenting for the said time for the toss will lose the toss to the
  10. A maximum of 15 players squad shall be declared and sent to the league secretary by email, at least 10 days before the first match of the league, further changes in the squad shall be notified to the league secretary one week before their next
  11. There will be no water break other than mentioned above; the player should take the permissions from the umpires before taking the water or drinks on the
  12. If any match is delayed by any reasons, the overs shall be reduced according to the time left for the next match or ground availability. If the match is delayed because of one team, the said team’s overs to be reduced only, other team will play their full
  13. The requirement of the lightings in the evening matches or early darkness, will be decided by the umpires, only the team captain and/or batsmen can request the lightings for the match, the final decision shall be done by
  14. In case two teams have same points at the end of the league, the decision for upper or lower level, will be decided bases on the match between them, the winning team will have the preference in both upper and lower
  15. All teams must play at least 2 games in each ground. The decision of the venue for the teams is reserved by the league

FINES:

 

All fines shall be paid to the League secretary. Failure to pay a fine within 15 days of request shall result in 10 points being deducted from their point’s total of such offending team/club, any delay more than 30 days will be fined as the deduction of 20 points from the team’s total points.

APEALS:

 

All the clubs/teams/players have right of appeals against umpires’ decisions and/or discipline committee regarding the match results, fines etc. The appeals to be sent in written by email to league secretary by the captain and/or president of the club, within 72 hours of the decision.

SECTION IV

 

Policy of Integration

This section introduced in the league rules of Catalunya Cricket Federation by the end of the season 2020 to be implemented from the season 2021. Idea of this section is to help promote cricket in local people. Federation wants to integrate people to make cricket everyone’s game.

  1. Club will get bonification in the yearly registration fees for having 1 player who are not from South Asia.
  1. If any senior team play a junior team in the junior league, they will get an extra bonification in the yearly registration.
  1. If any club can build a lady’s team to participate in the tournament then they will get 100% bonification in the yearly registration fees.
  1. If any club fails to fulfill any of the options above, they’ve to pay extra 30% of the registration fees announced by the federation.
  1. Registration for U-17* players are free of cost.
  1. Registration of girls are free of cost.
  1. All U15* players going to school in Barcelona they’ve to participate in their school cricket project organized by “BARCELONA CRIQUET JOVE”. If there are no cricket activities in their school, they’ve to join the training of the nearest school where this project is running. If any school don’t have cricket in their sports activities but at least 10 players are available on that school who can participate on the training they’ve to inform federation to talk with the school to add cricket in their activities.

* 1st January of the year, the player has to be less or equal of the age.  For example: A boy born in 1 February 2001. In 1 January 2020 his age is 18 years 11 months. This player is allowed to play U19. If date of birth is 31 December 2000 then 1 January 2020 his age is 19 years 1 day. He cannot play U19.

Disciplinary Rules

1.      CODE OF CONDUCT AND SPIRIT OF CRICKET

 

1.1. Code of Conduct

  • The Catalan Cricket League is committed to maintaining the highest standards of behavior and conduct. All clubs and players, by virtue of their registration with the League, explicitly agree to abide by this Code of Conduct, which incorporates the Spirit of Cricket, and are bound by the provisions in these Regulations.
  • The captains are always responsible for ensuring that play is conducted within the Spirit of Cricket as well as within the
  • Players and club officials must always accept the umpire’s decision. Players must not show dissent at the umpire’s decision or react in a provocative or disapproving manner towards another player or a
  • Players and club officials shall not intimidate assault or attempt to intimidate or assault an umpire, another player, any club official or
  • Players and club officials shall not use crude and/or abusive language (known as «sledging») nor make offensive gestures or hand signals nor deliberately distract an
  • Players and club officials shall not use language or gestures that offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage or vilify another person on the basis of that person’s race, religion, sexual orientation, color, descent or national or ethnic origin.
  • Players and club officials shall not use or in any way be concerned in the use or distribution of illegal
  • Clubs must take adequate steps to ensure the good behavior of their players, officials, members and
  • Clubs and players federated to the federation are not allowed to use social media (Facebook, twitter and/or any other social media), for any critics, and any other offensive comments towards federation and/or officials will result the restrictions from the league/tournament to the club/player.

1.2.        Spirit of Cricket

Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its Laws, but also within the Spirit of the Game. Any action which is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the game itself. The major responsibility for ensuring the spirit of fair play rests with the captains.

  • There are two Laws which place the responsibility for the team’s conduct firmly on the
  • Responsibility of Captains

The captains are always responsible for ensuring that play is conducted within the Spirit of the Game as well as within the Laws.

  • Player’s Conduct

In the event of any player failing to comply with the instructions of an umpire, criticizing his decision by word or action, showing dissent, or generally behaving in a manner which might bring the game into disrepute, the umpire concerned shall in the first place report the matter to the other umpire and to the player’s captain, requesting the latter to take action.

  • Fair and Unfair Play

According to the Laws the umpires are the sole judges of fair and unfair play. The umpires may intervene at any time, and it is the responsibility of the captain to act where required.

  • The umpires are authorized to intervene in cases of
    • Time wasting
    • Damaging the pitch
    • Dangerous or unfair bowling
    • Tampering with the ball
    • Any other action that they consider to be
  • The Spirit of the Game involves RESPECT for:
    • Your opponents
    • Your own captain and team
    • The role of the umpires
    • The game’s traditional
  • It is against the Spirit of the Game:
    • To dispute an umpire’s decision by word, action or gesture
    • To direct abusive language towards an opponent or umpire
    • To indulge in cheating or any sharp practice, for instance
  1. appeal knowing the batsman is not out
  2. advance towards an umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing
  3. seek to distract an opponent either verbally or by harassment with persistent clapping or unnecessary noise under the guise of enthusiasm and motivation of one’s own side.
  • Violence

There is no place for any act of violence on the field of play.

  • Players

Captains and umpires together set the tone for the conduct of a cricket match. Every player is expected to make an important contribution to this.

1.3.        Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with the provisions of this section 1 may lead to disciplinary action, irrespective of an alleged breach being related to a match not under the jurisdiction of the League.

2.    AIMS AND JURISDICTION

2.1.        Compliance

The Catalan Cricket League Code of Conduct shall be complied with by all those who participate under the jurisdiction of the League Management Committee; for the sake of clarity, this includes all players, club officials and club members.

Participants shall always conduct themselves fairly and properly on any part of a cricket ground and not merely the field of play.

2.2.        Reporting

It is intended that any breach of Paragraph 1 should in the first instance be dealt with by the participant’s club who shall notify the League Secretary of any action taken.

2.3.        Investigation

Any Breach of the code of conduct as outlined in Paragraph 1 will be reported to the League executive within 72 hours of the game by the umpires appointed to the game. The executive will decide based on the written reports received from the umpires whether the offence should be categorized as Level 1, 2, 3 or 4, as set out in Appendix 1 below.

2.4.        Procedure

A discipline breach by a player will be dealt with under the procedure set out in Paragraph 4 below.

2.5.        Serious Breaches

Serious breaches will normally be dealt with by a full disciplinary hearing, following the procedure set out in Paragraph 5 below. Where a charge against a player is referred to disciplinary hearing, his captain and club may be charged separately under their responsibilities as set out in Paragraph 1 above.

2.6.        Umpires Authority

Umpires have authority to decide that a player has committed a breach of Paragraph 1 without having previously issued any informal or formal warnings.

3.    PROCEDURES

3.1.        Alleged Breaches

Any alleged breach of Paragraph 1 (to be known as ‘a complaint’) shall be notified in writing by a letter or email to the League Secretary or Umpires Secretary within 72 hours of the end of the match.

3.2.        Notification

The League secretary shall, as soon as reasonably practicable, inform the Secretary/president of the club against whom the complaint has been made.

3.3.        Reports

Separate reports from both umpires and from the club must be received for consideration by the Wednesday following the incident. The umpires should not consult on the contents of their reports. The complaint shall then be referred to the disciplinary officer who along with two other members of the management committee will consider the complaint and resolve either:

  • To take no action except to record the complaint (for the purposes of 4.2 below) and notify the club; or
  • To endorse any action taken by the club; or
  • Consider the matter as a Disciplinary issue, identify the level of the breach according to the code of conduct and decide on appropriate sanction which will be conveyed to the club within 48 hours or in time for the next set of matches (whichever is sooner). This may include convening a disciplinary

4.    DISCIPLINARY BREACHES

4.1.        Cautions

Umpires will caution the player as to his conduct, advise him and his captain that the player will be named on the umpires’ report form.

4.2.        Repeat Offences

Any player so named three times on the Umpires Report Form in a season will receive an automatic two match ban.

4.3.        Reporting

It should be noted that the umpires may decide that a single breach is sufficiently serious to report the matter under Paragraph 4.1, above.

4.4.        Suspensions

Suspensions shall be carried over to the following season if applicable, even if the player changes club or league.

4.5.        Multiple Reports

Where a club receives more than one report under Paragraph 4.1 in any one season, that club may have 10 league points deducted, on the second, and each subsequent occasion. Note that reports on individuals from the same match shall be regarded as separate reports even if contained in the same document.

4.6.        Appeals

Any appeal against a sanction imposed under the procedure for Minor Breaches shall only be allowed on the grounds of mistaken identity, misrepresentation, or failure of the umpires to follow the procedures in Paragraphs 4.1 above.

5.    DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS

5.1.        Timing

In any case which is referred for a Disciplinary Hearing, the League Secretary shall convene the hearing within 14 days of the decision to refer. Any adjournments may be granted at the discretion of the League Secretary.

5.2.        Notice Period

At least seven days’ notice in writing of the hearing shall be given to the player and copied to his club Secretary. In the case of a club, its Secretary shall be so notified. The notice shall specify the alleged breach(es) of Paragraph 1 above.

5.3.        Entitlements

The accused player or club shall be entitled:

  • To submit written statements ahead of the hearing
  • To attend the hearing
  • To state his case (in the case of a club, by its Secretary or other official)
  • To be supported by a colleague and to call

5.4.        Legal Representation

There is no right to legal representation, but the accused person or club is permitted to have a «friend» present (see 5.3.4. above) who can take no formal part in the proceedings

5.5.        Panel

The Hearing shall be conducted by a Disciplinary Panel appointed by the League Secretary and shall consist of not less than three persons. None of the Panel should be connected with the player, the club or their opponents at the time of the alleged breach, or a club which might directly benefit from any disciplinary action.

5.6.        Proof

The standard of proof shall be on the balance of probabilities rather than the criminal standard of beyond reasonable doubt.

6.    PENALTIES

6.1.        Powers

If at a hearing a breach of Paragraph 1 is proved, the Disciplinary Panel shall have the power to impose one or more of the following penalties, together with such order as to costs as it deems appropriate:

6.2.        In the case of a player

  • To require the player to submit appropriate letter(s) of apology within a specified
  • To record a reprimand and to give a warning as to future
  • To impose a
  • To suspend the player for one or more matches, or for a stated period.
  • To deduct League points from the player’s
  • To expel the player from the

6.3.         In the case of a club

  • To require the club to submit appropriate letter(s) of apology within a specified
  • To record a reprimand and to give a warning as to future
  • To impose a
  • To deduct League points from the club’s
  • To relegate to any lower division of the
  • To refer the matter to an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) with the purpose of having the club expelled from the League in accordance with Constitutional

6.4.        Suspensions

The Disciplinary Panel shall have the power to suspend the operation of any part, or all, of the penalty it imposes for such period and subject to such terms and conditions it deems appropriate.

7.    APPEALS

7.1.        Right of Appeal

Where a breach of Paragraph 1 has been proved at a Disciplinary Hearing, a player or club shall have the right of appeal. Where a player and his club are appealing in relation to the same incident, they must do so separately.

7.2.        Notice

A notice of appeal setting out the grounds must be given in writing to the league Secretary within seven days of the decision of the Disciplinary Panel.

7.3.        Timing

If a notice of appeal is given, the penalty shall not take effect pending the hearing of the Appeal, which shall take place as soon as is practicable and in any event within 14 days of receipt of notice of the appeal.

7.4.        Process

The Appeal shall be by way of a re-hearing before a different Panel. The Appeal Panel shall be appointed by the League Secretary and shall consist of not less than three persons. None of the Panel should relate to the individual or the club or their opponents, or a club which might directly benefit from any disciplinary action. They must not be people involved in the original hearing.

7.5.        Entitlements

The player or club shall have the same entitlements as set out in Paragraph 5.3 above.

7.6.        Appeal Decision

The decision of the Appeals Panel will be referred to Disciplinary Panel. The decision of the Disciplinary Panel shall be final and binding.

7.7.        Reporting

The League shall report match bans in writing to the relevant club’s Board for national circulation. Players should understand that match bans will normally apply to all cricket played under the auspices of Catalan Cricket Federation.

Appendix 1 – Breaches of Discipline

Certain conduct, whether on or off the field of play, amounting to a breach of the Laws of Cricket and/or the Spirit of Cricket have been categorized into 4 levels which are set out below:

Level 1

  • Time wasting by either the fielding side or the batting side
  • Abuse of the cricket ground, equipment, or fixtures
  • Showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action
  • Using language that is obscene, offensive, or insulting and or the making of an obscene gesture
  • Excessive appealing

Level 2

  • Showing serious dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action
  • Inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in play
  • Charging or advancing towards an umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing
  • Deliberate and malicious distraction or obstruction on the field of play, regardless as to whether such conduct is deemed to be fair under law 5
  • Throwing the ball at or near a player, umpire or official in an inappropriate and dangerous manner
  • Using language or gesture that is obscene or of a serious insulting nature to another player, umpire, team official or spectator
  • Changing the condition of the ball other than as permitted by Law 3
  • the bowling of fast short pitched balls that result in the bowler being disallowed from bowling further in that innings
  • Causing avoidable damage to the pitch contrary to Laws 42.13 and/or Law

42.14 that results in a five-run penalty being awarded

Level 3

  • Intimidating an umpire
  • Threatening to assault another player, team official or spectator
  • Using language or gesture that offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage, or vilify another
  • Person based on that person’s race, religion, sexual orientation, color, descent, national or ethnic origin
  • The deliberate bowling of any high full-pitched ball contrary to Law 8

Level 4

  • Threatening an umpire
  • Physical assault of another player, umpire, official or spectator
  • Any act of violence on the field of play
  • Using language or gestures that seriously offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage or vilify another person on the basis of that person’s religion, sexual orientation, color, descent or national or ethnic

Appendix 2 – Sentencing Guidelines

Guidelines

The following is a guide to the match bans that may be imposed by Disciplinary/Appeals Panels for individual breaches of discipline, as set out above:

  • Level 1: Warning and/or suspended ban for first offence. Possible ban for subsequent offences (Carried over to subsequent season)
  • Level 2: 2 to 8 matches + Cash fine (as decided by Committee)
  • Level 3 & Level 4 will be as per MCC law 42 (See LAW 42)

Contributing Factors

Panels will take the following factors into account when determining the penalties to be imposed:

  • If the accused player/club has pleaded guilty
  • His previous disciplinary record
  • If the player is also the captain
  • The conduct of the player subsequent to him being warned and told that he will be reported
  • If an appeal is considered to be spurious

LAW 42        PLAYERS’ CONDUCT

  • Unacceptable conduct
    • The umpires shall act upon any unacceptable conduct. Four Levels of offence and the corresponding actions by the umpires are identified as Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 offences in 42.2 to 5.
    • If either umpire considers that the conduct of a player, at any time during the match, is unacceptable, the umpire concerned shall call and signal Dead ball. This call may be delayed until the umpire is satisfied that it will not disadvantage the non-offending
    • The umpire concerned shall report the matter to the other umpire and together they shall decide whether misconduct has occurred. If so, they shall determine into which of the Levels the conduct falls, as set out in 42.2 to 42.5 below, and then apply the related
    • For each Level 1 to 4, if the offence is by a batsman, the umpires shall summon the offending player’s captain to the field. Solely for the purpose of this Law, the batsmen at the wicket may not deputise for their

42.2  Level 1 offences and action by umpires

  • Any of the following actions by a player shall constitute a Level 1 offence:
    • willfully mistreating any part of the cricket ground, equipment or implements used in the match
    • showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action
    • using language that, in the circumstances, is obscene, offensive or insulting
    • making an obscene gesture
    • appealing excessively
    • advancing towards an umpire in an aggressive manner when appealing
    • any other misconduct, the nature of which is, in the opinion of the umpires, equivalent to a Level 1
  • If such an offence is committed, 42.2.2.1 to 42.2.2.6 shall be implemented as appropriate, according to whether it is the first offence at any
    • The umpire shall call Time, if necessary.
    • Together the umpires shall summon and inform the offending player’s captain that an offence at this Level has
    • If the Level 1 offence is the first offence, at any Level, by that team, the umpire shall
      • issue a first and final warning which shall apply to all members of the team for the remainder of the
      • warn the offending player’s captain that any further Level 1 offence by any member of his/her team shall result in the award of 5 Penalty runs to the opposing
    • If the Level 1 offence follows an offence, at any Level, by that team, the umpire shall award 5 Penalty runs to the opposing
    • As soon as practicable the umpire shall call
    • The umpires together shall report the occurrence as soon as possible after the match to the Executive of the offending player’s team and to any Governing Body responsible for the match, who shall take such further action as is considered appropriate against the captain, any other individuals concerned and, if appropriate, the

42.3  Level 2 offences and action by umpires

  • Any of the following actions by a player shall constitute a Level 2 offence:
    • showing serious dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action
    • making inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with another player
    • throwing the ball at a player, umpire, or another person in an inappropriate and dangerous manner
    • using language or gesture to another player, umpire, team official or spectator that, in the circumstances, is obscene or of a seriously insulting nature
    • or any other misconduct, the nature of which is, in the opinion of the umpires, equivalent to a Level 2
  • If such an offence is committed, 42.3.2.1 to 42.3.2.6 shall be
    • The umpire shall call Time, if necessary.
    • Together the umpires shall summon and inform the offending player’s captain that an offence at this Level has
    • The umpire shall award 5 Penalty runs to the opposing
    • The umpire shall warn the offending player’s captain that any future Level 1 offence by any member of his/her team shall result in the award of 5 Penalty runs to the opposing
    • As soon as practicable the Umpire shall call
    • The umpires together shall report the occurrence as soon as possible after the match to the Executive of the offending player’s team and to any Governing Body responsible for the match, who shall take such further action as is considered appropriate against the captain, any other individuals concerned and, if appropriate, the

42.4  Level 3 offences and action by umpires

  • Either of the following actions by a player shall constitute a Level 3 offence:
  • intimidating an umpire by language or gesture
  • threatening to assault a player or any other person except an umpire. See 5.1.
    • If such an offence is committed, 42.4.2.1 to 42.4.2.8 shall be
      • The umpire shall call Time, if necessary.
      • Together the umpires shall summon and inform the offending player’s captain that an offence at this Level has
      • The umpires shall direct the captain to remove the offending player immediately from the field of play for a period in accordance with the following:
        • In a match where the innings are not limited to a number of overs, the player shall be suspended from the field of play for 10
        • In a match where the innings are limited to a number of overs, the player shall be suspended for one fifth of the number of overs allocated to the current innings at its commencement. If, in calculating the length of the suspension, a part-over results, it shall be considered as a whole over. Furthermore, any balls remaining in the over in progress at the time of suspension shall not count towards the overs for which the player is
        • If the offending player is a fielder, no substitute shall be allowed for him/her. The offending player may return to the field of play after serving the period of suspension and may bowl
        • If a bowler is suspended mid-over, then that over must be completed by a different bowler, who shall not have bowled the previous over nor shall he/she bowl the next
        • If the offending player is a not out batsman, he/she shall be replaced by another member of his/her team. The offending player may return to bat after having served the suspension only at the fall of a wicket. If no batsman is available to bat during a batsman’s suspension, the innings is completed. If the offending player does not continue his/her innings for whatever reason, he/she is to be recorded as Retired – not out.
        • If the offending player is a dismissed member of the batting side, the period of suspension will not commence until the start of the next innings. Furthermore, in these circumstances, the offending player may not act as a runner during the innings when he/she was
        • Warn the offending player’s captain that any future Level 1 offence shall result in the award of 5 Penalty runs to the opposing
        • Any overs remaining to be served from a suspension shall be carried forward to the next and subsequent innings of the match. A part over at the end of the innings shall not count towards the overs for which the player is
      • As soon as practicable, the umpire shall
    • award 5 Penalty runs to the opposing team
    • signal the Level 3 penalty to the scorers
    • call

42.5  Level 4 offences and action by umpires

  • Any of the following actions by a player shall constitute a Level 4 offence:
  • threatening to assault an umpire
  • making inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with an umpire
  • physically assaulting a player or any other person
  • committing any other act of

        • If a bowler is suspended mid-over, then that over must be completed by a different bowler, who shall not have bowled the previous over nor shall be permitted to bowl the next over.
        • If the offending player is a batsman he/she is to be recorded as Retired – out in the current innings, unless he/she has been dismissed under any of Laws 32 to 39, and at the commencement of any subsequent innings in which his/her team is the batting side. 42.6  Captain refusing to remove a player from the field

  • If a captain refuses to carry out an instruction under 42.4.2.3 or 42.5.2.3, the umpires shall invoke Law 16.3 (Umpires awarding a match).
  • If both captains refuse to carry out instructions under 42.4.2.3 or 42.5.2.3 in respect of the same incident, the umpires shall instruct the players to leave the field. The match is not concluded as in Law 12.9 (Conclusion of match) and there shall be no result under Law 16 (The result).

42.7  Additional points relating to Level 3 and Level 4 offences

  • If a player, while acting as wicket-keeper, commits a Level 3 or Level 4 offence, Law 24.1.2 (Substitute fielders) shall not apply, meaning that only a nominated player may act as wicket-keeper, even if another fielder becomes injured or ill and is replaced by a
  • A nominated player who has a substitute or runner will also suffer the penalty for any Level 3 or Level 4 offence committed by the substitute or runner. However, only the substitute or runner will be reported under Laws 42.4.2.5 or 42.5.2.5.
